The Inspiration? Oprah? Black Eyed Peas?

Actually, this Black Eyed Peas’ I’ve Got a Feeling song did inspire my John Muir trek last summer. The audio, the video, the lyrics and images where all posts my Facebook friends endured the week before the trip take-off. But no, the Black Eyed Peas did not inspire this blog.

Oprah was apparently ranked by Forbes as #3 of the World’s Most Powerful Women for 2010. But no, Oprah did not inspire this blog either.

What did inspire this blog? Last November, a good friend of mine had me read his I am Happiest When vision. It wasn’t January 1st, but this knock on the window, along with Dean Karnazes’ We are all living in cages … bump in the head, inspired me to do the same.

Being the visual person that I am, I created a pyramid divided into two. The broad bottom base consists of three levels, and the pinnacled top portion consists of two levels. The broad bottom base depicts I Am Happiest When … thoughts that involve only me. In other words, if all I had was me in this world, I would be the happiest when? The pinnacled top portion depicts I Am Happiest When … thoughts that involve other people I surround myself with.

What inspired this blog is the pinnacled top of my pyramid

So, here we are. What better way to reach and engage with similar-minded people — but a blog!

The Plan Stan?

The plan is to follow some general good blogging rules of attraction out there. In particular:

  • The Enter key will attempt to trigger blog posts about two or three times per week.
  • Social media best practices suggest a 70:20:10 content breakdown. So:
    • Seventy percent of published content will be comprised of sharing industry information, tips about how to do something better, links to great blog posts or articles, or insight into national trends.
    • Twenty percent of published content will be comprised of answering questions you may have.
    • The remaining content will be about me being me.

Warning though. The heat of passion may just spur some posts in alternate directions, temporarily.

You ready? I am.
